HISTORY

The Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra was established by the president of the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory in November 1998. The status of the Orchestra was completed by summer 1999 and the first rehearsals started on January 10, 2000.

The Orchestra's first concert was on February 28, 2000 and since February 22nd 2001 LNSO became the resident orchestra of the Al-Bustan Festival.

Walid Gholmieh, the President of the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music, is the founder and the principal conductor of the LNSO other conductors are Wojciech Czepiel, Harout Fazlian , Michel Khairallah and Garo Avessian.

The LNSO gives 25 to 30 concerts per season. The Orchestra has various Chamber Ensembles that give 30 to 40 Chamber concerts per season.

By 22nd of December 2009 LNSO became THE LEBANESE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA (LPO)
